Soter is a nine year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi and, as seen in his picture, he is very handsome! Soter is a super sweet guy who is always good for a nap and hug on the couch. He has a few toys that he loves loves loves and will not share with his friends or siblings! The squirrel is his nemesis and they have been unable to work through their issues for years. Still hoping one day they can become friends! Soter’s best friend is Kitty, his kitty cat brother who he insisted we invite to live with us nine years ago. He enjoys trying to get Kitty to chase him and play with him but he also has a firm paw when it comes to disciplining Kitty when he does something naughty. Soter is the inspiration for this blog and my desire to work with dogs everyday. I attribute many of y past successes and career choices to this dog. I wouldn’t be me without this guy!
Kitty is a nine year old Russian Blue. He is a very unique cat and definitely a looker! Kitty comes when he is called and loves to hold a conversation with anyone that will talk to him. He can’t get enough love or hugs. The best way he shows his affection is through his infamous (and sometimes very rough) head butts and nose bites. He will sometimes do both of these things in the middle of the night, which can be a bit jarring when you aren’t expecting it. This guy is the one I go to if I need a really good hug. He is always up for one and will sit with me for hours if I need him. He is one of the most loving and affectionate animals I have ever met. He was an incredible addition to mine and Soter’s family and now we are an inseparable little group.
Lily and Gunner
Lily and Gunner are best friends. These two gentle giants came into my life a couple years ago when I met my husband Patrick! These two dogs have some of the funniest quirks and most unique personalities.
Gunner is an nine year old German Shepherd and boy is he handsome! He has a lot of the usual German Shepherd tendencies like walking in circles and the “I’m so tough” attitude, but this dog is anything but typical. He insists on having family meetings, he sits across from us while we watch TV and stares at us until we talk to him. He then cocks his head left and right to show us he is really listening to what we have to say! Also, Gunner collects pine cones. He must find a pinecone each and every time we go outside and then carries it with him for the entire walk. If he finds one he believes is a more superior pinecone, he will trade out for the better of the two. He then leaves the pine cones by the door in case he needs them again. He is kind and sweet and enjoys throwing his 108lb self on top of us whenever he can.
Lily is our only girl and she is, therefore, extra special. She is an eight year old, 100 pound Anatolian Shepherd, and one of my favorite snuggle buddies. She is, with no exaggeration, the kindest dog I’ve ever met. She has a heart of gold and is quite possibly the perfect dog is you don’t include the fact that she has no idea how to play like a dog! Lily has the uncanny ability to know every time something is wrong with me. She senses even the slightest changes in my mood and becomes Velcro when I’m sad. She cries along with me and follows me closely everywhere I go. If I take her for a walk and I’m having a bad day she doesn’t go smell all of the smells like she normally would, instead she walks along with me matching my steps in case I need her. She and I are becoming fast friends. This one is special.
