My name is Erin, I’m a certified dog trainer and life long lover of dogs! I’ve spent the majority of the past ten years furthering my knowledge and understanding of many different species of animals. In my undergraduate program at the University of Nebraska, I worked largely with livestock and had a special interest in my work with horses. When I moved back to Colorado, I obtained my masters degree in Agriculture with a focus in Animal Welfare from Colorado State University. This took me into work with a local animal rescue and a career working with dogs. I decided I wanted to really understand how dogs think, learn and behave so I chose to attend a year long, hands on training apprenticeship program with the Misha May Foundation. In this dog training and behavior specialist program, I did only hand on work with many different dogs with a variety of different behavior issues. I’ve worked with dogs requiring basic obedience skills, to dogs with severe anxiety and varying levels of aggressive behaviors. I believe in only using positive reinforcement training. I will never use aversive or punishing techniques because based on my knowledge of canine learning, dogs perform better and want to work harder with positive reinforcement. The more treats, praise and rewards the better!
I love what I do! It’s an incredible feeling to watch a dog and owner grow in their relationship through dog training. I’m so blessed to be able to work with dogs everyday!
